Astrantia major ‘Roma’
Pretty pincushion flowers in a delicate shade of pink, rise above loose clumps of attractive glossy foliage. Often seen in cottage garden borders, Astrantia major 'Roma' also thrives in the moist soil at a woodland edge or beside a pond or stream. The understated blooms, surrounded by papery outer bracts, are ideal for cutting for a delicate fresh or dried flower arrangement. Astrantia 'Roma' is one of the best varieties, and comes with an RHS AGM. The flowers persist from June to September and won't self seed as this variety is completely sterile.
